'Incredible': Michael Dawson can't believe what Nottingham Forest have done

Nottingham Forest hero Michael Dawson has questioned one aspect of the football club.

The Reds beat Sheffield United 3-1 at Bramall Lane yesterday and they are now tantalisingly close to survival.

Forest won thanks to a brace from Callum Hudson-Odoi and a first Premier League goal for Ryan Yates.

Before the game, however, there was something else about Forest that Dawson said had puzzled him a little bit.

Michael Dawson surprised about Nottingham Forest aspect

Well, it’s fair to say that the two years that Forest have had in the Premier League have been pretty turbulent.

The Reds narrowly avoided relegation last season and it looks like they might just scrape through this season too.

Forest are now three points clear of the relegation zone with just two games to play and have a better goal difference than Luton.

Dawson has taken a bit of a pop at the club’s recruitment policy, however, and it’s clear that he thinks Forest need to improve on that front.

He told Sky Sports: “Ryan Yates is the only player in that squad, not team, squad, who was there from the team that got promoted. That can’t happen. That is incredible.”

Forest recruitment hasn’t been too bad

Taking out the goalkeepers and the loan signings, the Forest recruitment model wasn’t too bad in the summer.

The Reds have signed some useful players and they have aided the club in their quest for survival.

Forest do have lessons to learn and the club’s recruitment policy is certainly a work in progress.

Dawson does make an interesting point but in the summer, the club did learn some lessons, it’s fair to say.

Now, with Premier League football for another season just about secured, Forest will turn to their recruitment team again.

This time around the club will hope to find more Callum Hudson-Odoi type signings and not so much the Divock Origi sort of additions to the squad.
