What Ange Postecoglou was seen doing towards Tottenham fans after Liverpool defeat

Tottenham Hotspur suffered their fourth straight defeat in the Premier League on Sunday in their trip to Liverpool.

Not only has Tottenham‘s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League vanished, but the Lilywhites now find themselves battling to keep their spot in fifth.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side have completely fallen off in recent months and look like a shadow of the side that beat Aston Villa 4-0 on their own turf less than two months ago.

A number of the Spurs players are worryingly out of form at the moment with Heung-min Son looking like he needs the season to come to an end as soon as possible.

After being dropped for the game on Thursday against Chelsea, James Maddison was unable to claim his spot back in the starting XI.

The lack of consistency in this Spurs side has now seen the north London outfit beaten in four consecutive league games for the first time since 2004.

And after the game at Anfield, Postecoglou was spotted doing something towards the travelling fans as they greeted their players after the full-time whistle.

Ange Postecoglou issues gesture towards the travelling Tottenham fans

Spurs fans have now seen their side fail to win any of their last five away games – losing four and drawing one.

Tottenham’s last win on the road came almost two months ago in that emphatic victory against Aston Villa.

Since, they have conceded 14 goals in their following five away games and scored just three.

The drop off in form is seriously concerning with Tottenham starting the season looking like a side who were capable of beating anyone.

As most teams do after any game, the Tottenham players approached the away end at Anfield and offered them a gesture of gratitude for their support.

Postecoglou was among the players clapping the away end, but he was spotted pointing to one fan, in particular.

The Australian continued to point at the fans before then pointing towards his own head.

Perhaps the fan was displaying their frustration towards the 58-year-old who was seemingly suggesting to use their heads and think about the long-term.

What Ange Postecoglou had to say about Spurs’ fourth consecutive loss

After beating Aston Villa so emphatically back in March, Tottenham had put themselves in a great position to finish in the top four.

However, the decline in performances since that afternoon at Villa Park have been seriously concerning.

Spurs return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend, but Postecoglou even admitted aspects of the display on Sunday were disappointing.

“Obviously a hugely disappointing outcome for us but at least we were more like ourselves today in terms of our football,” he said.

“Our last two away games at Newcastle and Chelsea, apart from the results which weren’t great either, we just didn’t try and play our football. I thought today, even in the first half, some of our football, our pressing was back to where it should be.

“We lacked a real sort cutting edge for sure. We had nothing in that front third and that allowed Liverpool to get comfortable.”
