'Two things, he did not and was not...': Guillem Balague dispels big Lopetegui myths

Julen Lopetegui has big support from Guillem Balague ahead of his proposed move to take over as the new West Ham United manager.

Guillem Balague rates soon-to-be West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui very highly indeed, and has spent most of his time recently defending his fellow countryman on his official X account.

With David Moyes now officially leaving the London Stadium at the end of the season, the former Wolves boss will come in to replace him.

I’m no big fan of Lopetegui by any means, but the more I read up on him, the more excited I’m becoming about our chances of achieving success next season.

He is all set to be handed the reins at the London Stadium on July 1st, and he has a lot of work lying ahead of him.

Lopetegui definitely needs us all to get behind him, if he is to take us on to another level.

I think the reason that some of the Hammers fans are disappointed with the impending appointment of the Spaniard, myself included, is that they were pining for Ruben Amorim or Paulo Fonseca instead.

And now the comments from Balague should give us all good reason to be more supportive of the 57-year-old coming into the club to replace Moyes…

Guillem Balague dispels two big Julen Lopetegui myths

The former Wolves, Sevilla, Real Madrid, Porto and Spain national team manager is a pragmatist, and he has been throughout his entire career.

He likes his teams to be defensively solid, but sometimes the quality of the football that he implements gets overlooked.

After all, if he wasn’t a top-class manager he wouldn’t have been handed the Madrid and Spain jobs would he!

And Balgue explained just how much Lopetegui has to offer, on his X account:

Balague is clearly a very big fan of the 57-year-old former Wolves boss.

The Spanish journalist claims that his fellow countryman was badly treated at Wolves, and has actually been an excellent manager wherever he has been throughout his career.

Guillem Balague has made me feel a lot more positive about the impending arrival of Julen Lopetegui, that’s for sure.

Let’s hope that he ends up proving most of us wrong, and ushers West Ham on into a new and unprecedented era of success.
