Club director reveals he’s already in talks with Tottenham over two loans for next season

Tottenham Hotspur are already in talks with an English club over two potential loan deals for their players ahead of next season.

Since Ange Postecoglou arrived last summer, a number of players have already been moved on from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Players like Eric Dier and Harry Kane are two of the biggest exits over the first term of Postecoglou’s tenure at Tottenham.

But there have also been numerous loan deals to see a variety of players leave Hotspur Way.

From young prospects to the likes of Tanguy Ndombele, these loan deals have seen a mixed bag in terms of successful seasons.

There’ll be a number of Spurs players who are hoping their loan departures may earn them a future elsewhere over the summer.

And it seems two Spurs players have impressed so much that their loan club is hoping to bring them back for a second season with talks already opened.

Club now want to bring back two Tottenham loanees for next season

Postecoglou has cleared out the Tottenham squad to a certain extent over his first two transfer windows.

Certain unwanted players have not been able to be moved on yet, though. But some of them have been sent out on loan.

This summer will offer Postecoglou with another opportunity to whittle down the players which he inherited as he looks to make it his own.

However, there are also some promising young players who were also sent out on loan over the Australian’s two transfer windows at the club.

And it has now been revealed by the Plymouth Herald that Plymouth Argyle want to see Ashley Phillips and Alfie Devine return for next season.

“The loan players will obviously go back (to the parent clubs) but we are already in discussions to see if we can maybe access one or two of those to stay again next year, but we are very early in the discussions,” said the director of football at the Championship side, Neil Dewsnip.

And the Plymouth director admitted that talks are taking place with Spurs over potential loan renewals for the two players.

Ashley Phillips could offer Ange Postecoglou perfect solution

The young England defender has had a stunning spell down in the Championship with Plymouth having joined them during the January window.

This summer, Spurs are expected to make some additions to their defence with a fourth-choice centre-back being eyed.

However, having seen Radu Dragusin join in January and make just two starts for Spurs since, it may prove difficult to attract a player of the quality which Spurs would like.

That could well leave the door open for Phillips to return to the club and actually have a spot in the Tottenham squad.

Micky van de Ven‘s injury issues and European football could well mean that fourth-choice centre-back may pick up some considerable minutes next year.

Having made 18 appearances in the Championship for Plymouth, it was apparent Phillips became an instant hit with the fans.

He may not provide Spurs with an established option at the back, but it is clear he has some serious potential to grow over the coming years.
