Eboracum Baroque, an ensemble which performs many famous works from across the Renaissance and Baroque periods, is to return to King’s College Fellows’ Garden in Cambridge this summer for a performance of Purcell’s classic opera, Dido and Aeneas.
The opera recounts the story of Dido, Queen of Carthage, and her love for the Trojan warrior, Aeneas.
Purcell’s classic tale of love and betrayal sits alongside one of his lesser-known works, Bonduca.
This tells the story of the Celtic warrior queen, Boudicca, and her fight and eventual downfall at the hands of the Roman Empire.
Eboracum Baroque, described as ‘spectacular’ by Classic FM, was formed in 2012 by Chris Parsons at the University of York.
The collective has performed across the UK and Europe in well-known venues and festivals, including Senate House, Cambridge, and The Temple Church, London.

The group will be appearing at King’s College Fellows’ Garden on Saturday, 6 July. Tickets, priced £23.50 for adults and £13.50 for students (children go free), are available from eboracumbaroque.co.uk.
