"This will be": Paul Merson now predicts result of Wolves vs Crystal Palace

Paul Merson has now shared his prediction for the Premier League clash between Wolves and Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Oliver Glasner takes his Eagles to Molineux as one of the Premier League’s form sides, following a run of five games without defeat.

Within that superb run, Crystal Palace recorded a memorable 1-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield, and also a historic 4-0 victory against Manchester United, which secured a league double over the Red Devils for the first time.

That goes without mentioning the emphatic 5-2 win over West Ham, in which we were 4-0 up after just 31 minutes.

What Paul Merson expects to happen at Molineux in Wolves vs Crystal Palace

Wolves have just a single win to their name in the last nine games across all competitions, so unsurprisingly, Merson is backing us to extend the unbeaten run to six matches.

Writing for Sportskeeda, the 56-year-old stated: “Wolves have had bad injuries this season and have fizzled out in recent months. That said, I don’t want their season to finish on a low, which would lead their fans to forget all the good work they did before the turn of the year.

“Crystal Palace were absolutely outstanding against Manchester United and emphatically put them to the sword last weekend. Eberechi Eze has an outside chance of making it into Gareth Southgate’s squad for Euro 2024 – he can be England’s X factor. This will be a good game of football and both teams will look to play on the front foot, so I can see a lot of goals being scored.”

Merson rounded off his prediction by backing a 2-2 draw on Saturday.

Speaking of Eze, one coach at Fulham has actually backed the Crystal Palace No.10 to win the Premier League Player of the Season award.

What is Crystal Palace’s longest unbeaten run in the Premier League?

As we head into the clash at Molineux five games without defeat, many are surely eager to know what Crystal Palace’s longest unbeaten run in the Premier League actually is.

Funnily enough, it came under Roy Hodgson in that 2017/18 campaign – which began so woefully with Frank de Boer at the helm.

After losing all seven of our opening Premier League games that year, playing some horrific football under the Dutchman, the Croydon-born tactician swiftly turned things around.

After just four games in charge of Crystal Palace, Hodgson then oversaw a run of eight games without a loss – our longest current unbeaten run in the Premier League.

  • Crystal Palace 2-2 Everton
  • Crystal Palace 2-1 Stoke City
  • Brighton & Hove Albion 0-0 Crystal Palace
  • West Bromich Albion 0-0 Crystal Palace
  • Crystal Palace 2-2 Bournemouth
  • Crystal Palace 2-1 Watford
  • Leicester City 0-3 Crystal Palace
  • Swansea City 1-1 Crystal Palace

There are – of course – only two games remaining this season, so Glasner can only match Hodgson’s efforts this term.

Even if we go on to suffer two defeats, our turnaround under the Austrian has been nothing short of sensational – the future seems very exciting, to say the least.
