‘Exciting’ Tottenham player may never play for Spurs again after update from his national side manager

The season of one of Tottenham Hotspur’s most influential players may now be over after an update has emerged from his national side.

Ange Postecoglou‘s first season as the Tottenham manager has provided a lot of positives to take into the summer.

However, it has been a season which could have returned a lot more had Spurs’ form not tailed off following a run of injury blows.

Players like James Maddison and Micky van de Ven have both fallen foul of serious injuries this season.

And in more recent weeks, Timo Werner, Destiny Udogie and Ben Davies have seen their seasons cut short after picking up injury issues.

Another potential injury issue has now been hinted at ahead of Tottenham’s game against Burnley today and it could mean the end of the player’s time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs are limping across the finish line now and this player has limped through the majority of the 2023/24 campaign.

Tottenham player may never play for the club again after injury update

The summer transfer window is already expected to see plenty of change happen at Hotspur Way.

Postecoglou has admitted this much in a recent press conference where he said there will be several players who are moved on.

He has now had essentially a full season to assess the players which he inherited and kept around the club for his first campaign.

However, some of them have simply not made the cut and it is clear to see that there are some players he just does not trust.

And then there is Richarlison, a player who has provided the goods for Spurs this season in front of goal when he has been fit.

But according to The Athletic, his season may now have come to an end after the Brazilian manager claimed he is injured again.

The Brazilian has been making a slow comeback from his most recent injury which saw him score from the bench on Sunday against Liverpool.

However, he has now been omitted from Brazil’s Copa America squad for the summer with the national side’s manager saying he has a new injury which has “not yet been made official by the club”.

Tottenham ready to sell Richarlison this summer amid Saudi interest

This injury is particularly significant as it could well mark the end of the striker’s time in north London.

Richarlison’s form did pick up this season, but there are still too many doubts over his ability to provide Tottenham with their long-term successor to Harry Kane.

Postecoglou has praised the striker throughout the campaign, but the doubts still remain over the long-term.

“He is exciting to watch, he’s a creative player and invariably supporters love those kind of players who can do something a little bit different,” Postecoglou said in February.

The Spurs News understand that Tottenham will be listening to offers for the 27-year-old this summer with interest coming from Saudi Arabia.

If the words of the Brazil manager are true, his goal against Liverpool may well have been his final contribution for the Lilywhites.
