Authorities have identified the 22-year-old man who was struck and killed by an SUV while riding an electric scooter along Route 1 in Edison early Wednesday.
Raul Montoya-Chavez was hit in the southbound center lane at the intersection of Plainfield Avenue at about 1:45 a.m. as he tried to cross at the intersection of Plainfield Avenue, Edison police said.
Montoya-Chavez, of Edison, died of his injuries at an area hospital. The 61-year-old Rahway man driving the SUV had a green light and is not expected to be charged, authorities said.
