Pedestrian struck and killed on N.J. street, cops say

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Maplewood on Monday morning, officials said.

The 28-year-old woman was hit at 9:10 a.m. on the 1400 block of Springfield Avenue, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said Friday. The Irvington resident’s identity was not released pending family notifications.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver stopped and spoke to police. The investigation is ongoing.
