Fabrizio Romano says plenty of teams want to sign £50m Reds star, but he’s ‘happy at Liverpool’

Liverpool will say goodbye to Jurgen Klopp on Sunday with the manager dominating the headlines for weeks now.

It’s going to be a surreal and difficult day for supporters as they wave off one of their best manager’s of all-time.

But Klopp is not the only person set to leave Anfield this summer. A number of the German’s coaching team will also depart, heading for new ventures of their own.

Alongside the non-playing staff though, we will also see the end of a couple of Klopp’s players. Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara are confirmed to be going.

As well as that out-of-contract pair though, there have been rumours that other members of the Liverpool squad could exit as well. Journalist Fabrizio Romano has now named one player who will be hoping to avoid the cull.

Luis Diaz happy at Liverpool

It remains to be seen exactly how much change there will be at Anfield over the course of the summer.

Having had a good season, you wouldn’t imagine there’s a need for too much to be ripped up. However, Liverpool could still do with upgrading one or two positions.

One of those they are reportedly looking to make a signing in is in the attack. As a result, Luis Diaz has been heavily linked with a move away.

And although Barcelona are said to believe Diaz wants a move to Camp Nou, transfer expert Romano now says the Colombian wants to stay at Liverpool.

“For Luis Diaz there is a lot of interest,” the journalist tells Give Me Sport. “We always have reports from clubs from Spain and France. But, at the moment, I can guarantee that Liverpool trust Diaz and want to continue with him.

“Let’s see if crazy proposals will arrive. At the moment, Liverpool are still very happy with Luis and Luis is also happy at Liverpool. The situation is quiet.”

Mixed reports over Luis Diaz’s Liverpool future

Although it’s good news to hear that Diaz does not want to leave Liverpool this summer, the direct opposite has also previously been reported.

It was only Wednesday that it was claimed that the 27-year-old was keen to move on at the end of the season.

Quite where the truth lies may depend on if any offers come in. As we’ve seen with South American players in the past, playing for Barcelona is indeed a dream.

If Barca make Liverpool a suitable offer, then perhaps we’ll see where Diaz’s loyalties truly lie. We’re not sure it would be with the Reds.

But the Catalans are still in a difficult financial position. Surely there’s no way they could even reach the £50m Liverpool ended up paying for Diaz in the first place, let alone leaving them with a profit. So, in lieu of any actual bid from Barca, we think Lucho will stay put. And we’re happy to hear it.
