Arne Slot should make £60m forward who Pep Guardiola says is 'incredible' his first Liverpool signing

Arne Slot should try to sign a £60m-rated forward this summer transfer window.

Liverpool waved goodbye to Jurgen Klopp on the weekend after a glittering eight-and-a-half-year spell in charge on Merseyside.

Now, the Slot era will begin and he will already be preparing for the fast-approaching transfer window as he looks to put his own imprint on the squad.

That said, he should seriously consider bolstering the forward line, as Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo haven’t exactly set the world alight.

So, one ‘incredible’ Premier League winger should be at the top of his transfer targets.

Liverpool should try to sign Pedro Neto

Liverpool should try to sign Wolves’ jet-heeled winger Pedro Neto, who is valued at £60m.

Neto has been of interest in the past but it’s Manchester City and Newcastle United who are the most interested suitors at this stage.

City’s interest in the 23-year-old is hardly surprising considering Pep Guardiola has previously labelled him ‘incredible’.

Slot can’t afford rival Premier League clubs to steal a march on Neto, who has registered 14 goal contributions in 24 outings this term.

Pedro Neto statistics

Neto’s underlying numbers are very impressive and suggest he’d be a perfect fit for a Slot system.

As per FBref, the Portugal international ranks in the top five per cent for progressive carries compared to his positional peers across Europe.

Neto is an elite ball carrier and would provide Liverpool with a more dynamic outlet on the left, differing from Gakpo and Diaz.

Further, he sits in the top one per cent for assists – evidencing his playmaking abilities, which often fall on the midfielders’ shoulders.

He’d certainly be an exciting addition to Liverpool and one that’d bring a totally different profile to their attack.

A telling summer window awaits.
