‘One to watch’: David Ornstein suggests Man Utd could hire ‘world class’ manager Ineos already know well

Mauricio Pochettino is back on the market.

Less than 12 months after being hired by Chelsea, the Argentine has left Stamford Bridge after a sixth-place finish with the Blues.

Inevitably, Pochettino’s departure from Chelsea had led to plenty of speculation about where he will go next.

Pochettino has long been linked with Manchester United, and with Erik Ten Hag coming under increasing pressure at the moment, there have been suggestions that Pochettino could be headed to Old Trafford.

Speaking on the Sky Sports Back Pages Podcast, David Ornstein has been discussing the idea of Pochettino going to United, and he says this is one to watch as Pochettino will be in United’s thinking and he knows Ineos well from an interview he held for the Nice job before moving to Chelsea.

Mauricio Pochettino one to watch for Man United

Ornstein shared what he knows about the ‘world class’ manager.

“Manchester United have been heavily linked with him even before Ten Hag. He met with Ineos about the Nice job too, so there is a relationship there,” Ornstein said.

“I’m sure that now he’s available he will be in the thinking of a club like Manchester United. I’m not suggesting it is going to happen, but clearly it’s one to watch, that’s inevitably one to watch.”

Mauricio Pochettino could be perfect for United

This could be a case of the right man at the right time for Manchester United.

United fans are desperate for a manager who plays entertaining football, and Pochettino has an incredible track record of developing young players into stars.

With the likes of Kobbie Mainoo, Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho all knocking on the door of being elite players, Pochettino could be just the manager United need to help their young stars reach the next level.

As Ornstein says, Pochettino is one to watch if United end up getting rid of Ten Hag.
