Harry Kane is surely wondering what’s going on after recent developments at Bayern Munich

Tottenham Hotspur’s record goalscorer Harry Kane must be wondering what he’s got himself into after moving to Bayern Munich.

Having seen Daniel Levy sanction his departure from Tottenham last summer, it has been quite the whirlwind of a season for the England captain.

Harry Kane had spent his entire professional career at Tottenham – loans aside – and had failed to get his hands on silverware.

Naturally, a move to Bayern presented the 30-year-old with a golden opportunity to earn himself some trophies with one of Europe’s top clubs.

After all, Bayern had won 11 Bundesliga titles on the bounce. However, they have now ended their campaign without a single trophy to their name.

And the recent developments following the end of what has been a disastrous campaign must have Kane stunned as to what he has got himself into.

Bayern Munich’s managerial search latest

Having seen Thomas Tuchel’s time at Bayern come to an end this season, the German giants have been left scrambling to find a replacement.

Rejection after rejection now looks to have left Burnley manager Vincent Kompany as the leading candidate to replace the former Chelsea manager.

Yes, that is right. The man who has recently taken Burnley back down to the Championship looks set to manage Bayern Munich alongside his assistant, Craig Bellamy.

Having played under some of the game’s best managers during his time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it looks like a Championship manager is set to get his hands on Kane’s side.

The move to Bayern looked like a home run when it came to Kane bringing an end to his trophy drought.

Should Harry Kane have stayed at Tottenham?

Looking back on the decision to move to Bayern, it is easy to say Kane should have remained at Tottenham with the club looking like they’re heading in the right direction under Ange Postecoglou.

However, not many people could have foreseen Bayern’s season panning out the way it has this year.

Having lost in Kane’s first-ever game as a Bayern player in the Super Cup against RB Leipzig, many would not have envisaged that this would set the standard for the campaign.

But it would have been interesting to see what Spurs could have achieved this season with Kane still in the squad.

Tottenham have struggled massively up top with Richarlison the club’s main striker when injuries did not have him sidelined.

Despite Bayern’s dreadful season, Kane’s individual performance has remained seriously impressive.

It does not feel that there is much more that Kane could have done at Bayern this season to help them get their hands on silverware.

And it does feel like that has been the story of his career.

What next for Harry Kane?

An exit from Bayern this summer feels incredibly unlikely and Kane has certainly seen his fair share of managers come and go during his time at Tottenham.

But if there is no improvement over the campaign and his trophy drought does not come to an end, it has to be questioned what he will be thinking this time next year.

All of this is hypothetically speaking and Bayern could go on to have a fantastic season powered by Tottenham’s greatest-ever striker.

But there will be a lot of doubt surrounding the appointment of Kompany if he is to be made Tuchel’s replacement.
