Fabrizio Romano shares whether he believes Timo Werner will now stay at Tottenham

The Premier League season is over, and there’s one big question still hanging over Tottenham Hotspur.

Indeed, the future of Timo Werner remains unresolved.

The German joined Spurs on loan in January with a £15m option to buy, and many have pondered whether or not Spurs will activate that clause.

Werner started life at Tottenham rather well, but before his injury, performances tailed off.

Speaking to JD Football, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing whether or not Werner will stay at Spurs, and he’s stated that he doesn’t believe he’s likely to stay.

Timo Werner not likely to stay at Tottenham

Romano stated that he’s not sure Werner will stay at Spurs.

“Timo Werner is still no decision made, but I’m not sure he’s going to stay at the club, Olise is Man United and Chelsea, it’s two clubs,” Romano said.

Werner is a bargain waiting to be had

Timo Werner may not be the right player for Tottenham at this moment in time, but at £15m, there’s a bargain there to be had for the right club.

Indeed, £15m for a player with bags of Champions League experience and a decent goalscoring record in Germany isn’t a bad move at all.

Of course, Werner hasn’t exactly lit up the Premier League during his spells with Chelsea and Tottenham, but these sorts of players can often perform better at smaller clubs when they’re a big fish in a smaller pond.

Even if Werner doesn’t end up staying at Tottenham, don’t be shocked if another Premier League team takes a punt on him at just £15m, because that is a very reasonable price point for a player who, at his best, can be a very effective striker.

Werner may not join Tottenham, but he could well be on the move this summer.
