Tottenham handed summer transfer boost for ‘quality’ forward, Eden Hazard raved about him

Tottenham are gearing up for a busy summer transfer window, with plenty of targets touted for the months ahead.

Spurs are looking to build upon a promising first season under Ange Postecoglou, who is still implementing his philosophy into the club.

The Tottenham manager has shown glimpses of that style of play at the very top, however, inconsistency stunted the Lilywhites from achieving a top-four finish.

It means that, rather than a return to the Champions League, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will be playing host to Europa League football next season.

That outcome still represents a vast improvement on where Tottenham were the season prior, but it shows there’s plenty more work to be done.

Some of that will start with improving the squad, with the summer transfer window offering a chance to do just that.

Plenty of targets are being linked with a move to Hotspur Way, but it appears as though a forward option is top of the agenda.

Callum Hudson-Odoi to Tottenham transfer

Tottenham have been linked with a transfer swoop for Nottingham Forest winger Callum Hudson-Odoi in the summer transfer window.

The former Chelsea winger has impressed at the City Ground, bagging eight goals in the Premier League this season.

With Hudson-Odoi’s ability to play across the front three, and at just 23 years old, it may be a move that suits Spurs.

The north London outfit may have been handed a boost in trying to land him this summer too as the i reports that Forest must sell some players before June 30th to avoid possible financial breaches.

The East Midlands club were deducted four points over the last season due to their financial position, despite the sale of Brennan Johnson to Tottenham for roughly £47million.

With Hudson-Odoi only having two years left on his contract, interest from Spurs could prompt a swift exit.

Eden Hazard praise for Callum Hudson-Odoi

With Hudson-Odoi breaking into senior football at such an early age, it can be tough to remember that he is still many years away from his peak.

During those first few years, the sky was the limit for the winger, with Chelsea icon Eden Hazard raving about him as the future of the club in 2019.

Hazard told Sky Sports: “He’s the future of Chelsea. I’ve told him already. He’s still young but when you see him he looks like he’s played ten years.

“He’s a great guy to work with, he’s been fantastic. He wants to learn and he’s young so I hope Chelsea can keep him for a long time.

“He’s got quality, sometimes I understand it’s hard to get young players in the team because we have people like me, Willian, Pedro.

“But when he has the chance to play they have to show they’re ready and Callum is showing that right now.”

While Hudson-Odoi hasn’t quite hit those heights yet, there is still plenty of room to reach those levels in the future.

The winger has already displayed an ability to impress in the Premier League with Forest, and maybe a move to Tottenham under Postecoglou could take him to that next level.
