'Special' Tottenham ace has been quietly impressing on loan, he could be ready for first-team - opinion

A ‘special’ Tottenham Hotspur player has been quietly impressing on loan and could be ready for Ange Postecoglou’s first team.

Spurs have a rich history of developing players from their academy, with Harry Kane being the shining example.

As part of Kane’s development, he was shipped out on multiple loan deals with varying success but ultimately, it shaped him into one of the best centre-forward England have ever produced.

That said, it seems one Spurs youngster is going on a similar journey and has just enjoyed a really fruitful loan spell abroad.

Troy Parrot impressing on loan

Troy Parrott was once regarded as the next big thing at Tottenham but his career, thus far, hasn’t quite panned out like that.

He’s been shipped out on multiple loans to the lower leagues and hasn’t really shown his true potential in any of them, until now.

Last term, the 22-year-old spent the season on loan at Eredivisie outfit Excelsior and enjoyed a prolific campaign.

Parrott netted 13 goals whilst laying on five assists across 22 starts, including a hat-trick to keep his side in the Eredivisie.

Troy Parrott close to Ange Postecoglou’s first-team

Whilst he’s not quite at the level to jump straight back into Postecolgou’s first-team, Parrott is close and perhaps one more productive loan spell to a lower-league Premier League side would have him back in contention.

For a time, it looked as though his Spurs career was all but over but it’s certainly been resurrected now, drawing similarities to Kane’s career path.

If he was even to have half the career Kane’s had, Spurs would have a brilliant number nine for the next decade.

A telling summer awaits the 2002-born striker.
