£52m Arsenal target set to leave on loan, club leaders are 'not convinced' about him - journalist

One player who has been linked to a move to Arsenal this summer is now set to leave his club on a temporary basis once again.

Mikel Arteta will have no doubt drawn up an extensive shortlist for Edu Gaspar to work through in the coming weeks and months.

That list will no doubt contain the names of few red-hot strikers around Europe, an addition Arteta is said to crave.

If reports are to be believed, then Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak and Ajax’s Brian Brobbey will be near the top, perhaps along with RB Leizpig’s Benjamin Sesko.

Of course, it’s not just a new goal-scorer that the club desire, a midfielder and a defender could also be added to Arsenal’s blossoming project.

And depending on the future of the players like Emile Smith Rowe, perhaps Arsenal fans could see four or five players arrive in total.

With that in mind, journalist Santi Aouna has now just shared an update on a player Arsenal have been consistently linked with over the past six months.

Arsenal target Xavi Simons will leave PSG on loan after not impressing club bosses

Xavi Simons, who has recently thrived during a season-long loan at RB Leipzig, will be available on loan once again.

The electric winger has been linked with Arsenal, and according to Santi Aouna, bosses at Paris Saint Germain aren’t convinced by the Dutchman moving forwards.

Sharing his update on X, the journalist explained that Simons would be sold permanently were it not for a clause that would see PSV Eindhoven take a lot of the profit.

Aouna explained: “Xavi Simons will not play at PSG next season and will be loaned out again this summer

“The decision has been taken for several weeks. Some club leaders (not Luis Enrique) have double talk and have never been convinced by Xavi Simons.

“If PSG could have sold him this summer, they would have done so. But Paris has ruled out this possibility because PSV keeps a % in the event of a sale this summer.”

Loaning Xavi Simons could suit Arsenal’s plans perfectly

Of course, if Arsenal’s interest remains, a loan deal with a view to buy – once that clause is negated, could be a very palatable option.

Just like every other Premier League side, Arteta and his team are having to work amid strict PSR boundaries, meaning such a move could free up funds elsewhere.

And with the club likely needing to prioritise some of the other positions mentioned above, a loan for Simons could be something of a ‘free hit’.

No doubt there will be costs involved, but if Arsenal were to let either Fabio Vieira or Emile Smith Rowe leave, then they would need to add another player.

And given Simons’ versatility he would be able to compete on either wing as well as centrally.

Certainly one to watch, and in the same breath, Arsenal could now have an incredibly exciting transfer option already playing in the Premier League.
