Report: "Fantastic" target now being pressured by Crystal Palace to decide on £81k-a-week contract

Starting the transfer window fast is always the goal, but this summer it seems to be exactly what Crystal Palace have done.

Oliver Glasner‘s ambitions for season two at Crystal Palace are lofty and Dougie Freedman will be extremely busy as he attempts to build Glasner a squad capable of playing like we’ve seen recently, over a 38-game season.

The Eagles will be hoping to announce defender Chadi Riad this week, with Real Betis boss Manuel Pellegrini confirming that he is due to have his medical this week, with Monday being the day mentioned.

But this will be far from the end for Palace with several other targets in the pipeline and likely even more should some of the star players be sold.

It has now been reported that Palace are putting pressure on one target as he mulls over his offer from the Eagles.

Crystal Palace now pressuring Daichi Kamada

To get things done quickly, Palace aren’t prepared to wait around forever and now it’s been reported that the pressure is being applied to one target.

According to a report from Italian outlet Cittacelesta, Palace are extremely keen on Lazio’s Daichi Kamada and is putting pressure on him to make a decision.

Lazio is keen on retaining the midfielder this summer, however, he’d yet to decide and has been offered a contract which has a much higher wage by Palace.

It’s reported Lazio would be willing to go up to €3.5m a year (£2.9m a year and £57k-a-week), which pales in comparison to Palace’s offer of €5m (£4.2m a year and £81k-a-week).

While Palace continue to pressure the “fantastic” player with their interest, chances are the final decision will be made by May 31st.

What is Daichi Kamada’s current contract situation?

The sticking point for Kamada in what Lazio is offering him is likely to be that it’s a pay decrease from what he’s earned over the past year.

The Japan international currently earns €3,850,000 per year which equates to £3.2m and £63k-a-week. This would put what Palace have offered as a real increase and suggests why he’s so torn over making the move to England.

Expiring on June 30th, Kamada is arguably the most valuable free agent available this summer, outside of the obvious Kylian Mbappe.

If signed, Palace would be getting an excellent deal on the 27-year-old whose market value is incredibly high, and we’d trust Glasner to be the one to get the most out of him.
