'Expected to leave': Fabrizio Romano confirms ‘fantastic’ Tottenham player is likely to go after Timo Werner signs

Tottenham have made their first signing of the summer.

It’s not the biggest of signings as Spurs have now announced that Timo Werner has re-signed on another loan deal, but it is a body through the door for the 2024/25 season.

Despite Werner’s early arrival, Tottenham have still got plenty of work to do this summer, and speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has shared some insight into what Spurs will do next.

Romano says that Tottenham will still look for players in Werner’s position this summer, stating that Bryan Gil is likely to leave the club.

Bryan Gil likely to leave

Romano shared what he knows about Spurs’ plans, claiming that the ‘fantastic’ winger is expected to leave.

“Timo Werner will be Tottenham’s first signing, but, of course, guys, let me clarify that Tottenham are still looking at options in that position. Could be a winger with Bryan Gil expected to leave the club and also could be a new striker based on what Tottenham will decide to do. But there will be still movement in offensive positions for Tottenham,” Romano said.

Gil’s time is up

Bryan Gil’s time at Tottenham is up, and it’s fair to say that this is a long overdue move.

Sadly, from day one, Gil has looked like he’s been surplus to requirements at Tottenham. He’s failed to make an impact under numerous managers now, and it’s hard to imagine he’ll ever become a regular at Spurs now.

There is a talented player in there somewhere, but he needs to cut his teeth at a lower level in order to develop properly and become a star.

Gil will leave Spurs in the near future, and that’s probably the best move for all parties.

Gil’s next move should probably be back to Spain where he can re-settle and get his career back on track.
