Old Gold Pack drop update after 12,000 fans sign petition opposing Wolves season ticket price hikes

The creators of the petition against the recent season ticket price hikes at Wolves have provided an update this morning.

It has been almost one week since many supporters learned they would have to pay significantly more money to renew their season tickets for the 2024/25 season.

Wolves have angered fans by putting prices up, and many feel the decision is a complete slap in the face given the loyalty they have shown during the tough times, and given the current cost of living crisis.

Prices for season tickets next term at Molineux have gone up 17% on average, and supporters feel the latest rises are wholly unjust.

In the days since the announcement, fans have been on social media discussing the issue and last Friday a petition was started urging Wolves to reconsider their decision.

The creators of that petition have now issued an update on the situation following a huge show of support…

Old Gold Pack have taken to X this morning to inform fans that Wolves have yet to respond to the petition they started.

The petition – which has now amassed over 12,000 signatures – was sent to the club along with an open letter.

That letter urged Wolves to reconsider, and strongly encouraged chairman Jeff Shi to open lines of communication with the fanbase. The petition and letter were sent to the club just over 24 hours ago.

Meanwhile, fans continue to discuss this farcical situation on social media, and big outlets like BBC Sport and ITV have now picked up the story.

Momentum is certainly building, and even fan groups of other Premier League clubs have thrown their backing behind the Wolves fans’ response.

Boycotts may be required

So Wolves have still not responded to this brilliant protest from the fans over the increases to season ticket prices.

It is disappointing that the club haven’t reconsidered their decision, but perhaps if fans started boycotting then they would take action. It would be a shame if that’s what it took.

Ultimately, if the club see that so many fans are no longer willing to support the club financially, then this will send a big message. Whether that be by no longer buying merchandise or stopping even going to the odd game at Molineux.

Hopefully, this massive response from the supporters will have had some kind of effect. There is simply no way that those behind these season ticket price rises have not seen the response on social media.

They must realise that things will only get worse, and potentially become toxic, if they continue to ignore this issue.
