Deal of the summer? The genius swap deal between Wolves and Arsenal Gary O’Neil must complete

The player swap deal that both Wolves and Arsenal could complete in the summer window that makes perfect sense for both clubs.

Wolves have a big summer ahead. After the chaotic 2023 pre-season which saw plenty of star players leave the Old Gold first team, there is now a chance to build on their recent success.

The club arguably performed above expectations this season as they stayed well away from any potential relegation battle.

However, sales are still expected this summer. Gary O’Neil stated earlier in May that Wolves may need to sell to buy.

This could see a big-name player leave such as Pedro Neto, who has been linked to Arsenal.

This article suggests that Wolves should look to do the deal with the Gunners as long as they get these two players in return.

Neto seems the most likely of all the Wolves players to leave. The winger has consistently performed each time he has played but unfortunately, injuries have limited his game time.

It is believed that Wolves want £60 million for Neto with sides such as Liverpool and Man City holding interest throughout the season.

However, no club has been linked to Neto more than Arsenal. The Gunners have long held interest in the winger and now could be time to cash in.

Despite a potential money offer being a temptation, Wolves should look to bring in duo Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah in exchange.

The pair are both out of favour under Mikel Arteta but have plenty of promise. The latter earned an England cap last year and netted an impressive hat-trick against Sheffield United this season.

Nelson is believed to be worth around £25 million, with Nketiah valued at £40 million according to recent reports.

With this price close to Neto’s value, it is possible Arsenal would accept.

Gary O’Neil could get the best out of Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah

Since O’Neil has come into Wolves, he has shown time and time again he can reignite player’s careers.

Neto is a big one, with the Portuguese international struggling for form after his injury in 2021. However, O’Neil brought him back to his best. The same happened to star players such as Hwang Hee-Chan, Pablo Sarabia and Matheus Cunha.

If O’Neil could bring in this pair, he could well do the same to turn them into real threats in the Premier League.

Of course, this is all hypothetical, but Wolves clearly need to be strategic in the marketplace. Exchanging an injury-prone player with high value for two young and hungry Premier League talents could be excellent business.
