'Everything I hear': Sky reporter suggests £100m player Man City really want to sign will not leave his club

Sky Sports reporter Pete Graves has suggested that one reported Manchester City target will not leave his club in the summer.

Manchester City would not want to endure a similar summer transfer window as in 2023 when the likes of Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham snubbed them.

A majority of clubs have targets in place in case the primary players they aim to bring in do not end up putting pen to paper.

Sky reporter suggests one player will not make Man City move

On Wednesday, it was reported that Manchester City are the favourites to complete a deal for Bruno Guimaraes this summer.

Even though it was stated on Monday that City were not intending to fork £100 million out towards the Brazilian’s release clause.

On the Sky Sports Transfer Talk Podcast, Pete Graves has suggested that Bruno Guimaraes has no intention to leave Newcastle United amid reports linking him to Manchester City.

Graves said: “I think they have to be clever. Newcastle fans, listen to this, I have no concerns about Bruno Guimaraes or Alexander Isak leaving the club.”

“I believe that in the opening game of the season, they will be striding out in black and white shirts. There’s this £100 million release clause in Bruno’s contract, someone would need to trigger that but he would then want to speak to the club that triggers that. Everything I hear from him, from his dad, they love it, the whole family loves it.”

The transfer comes down to what Bruno Guimaraes prioritises

If Pete Graves is proven right, Manchester City will be unable to strike a deal with Newcastle to sign Bruno Guimaraes.

The decision comes down to Guimaraes.

At 26 years of age, when the highly-rated midfielder has entered the prime of his career, the player must decide where his priorities lie — helping Newcastle progress as a club or winning trophies with City in the here and now.

If Guimaraes’ affinity towards the Magpies leads him to stay put at the club, his loyalty will be widely praised.

But questions about the former Lyon technician’s ambition will rightly be posed, as not many players get the chance to work under Pep Guardiola.

The opportunity to learn from the Catalan and win trophies alongside him would surely tempt Bruno Guimaraes if Manchester City seemingly continued to secure his services.
