‘I’d be shocked’: Journalist says he’d be stunned if Leeds signed £15m player now

Leeds United have plenty of work to do this summer.

After failing to win the play-offs, there are going to be plenty of ins and outs at Elland Road this summer, and one player Leeds hope to sign is Joe Rodon.

Indeed, according to Phil Hay, Leeds will have a real go at signing Rodon this summer.

However, speaking on The Spurs Chat Podcast, Josh Hughes has stated that he doesn’t think Leeds have a chance at getting Rodon this time around, stating that Premier League clubs will likely be in for him this summer.

Leeds not likely to sign Joe Rodon

Hughes shared what he knows about the £15m man, claiming that Leeds aren’t likely to get him.

“Rodon can command a fee, he has done well. Whether Leeds can, Leeds will want him of course, but I don’t think they have a chance now. I’d be shocked if Leeds went and got him because of missing out on promotion. I think he would’ve gone if they’d got in the Premier League, but there will be Premier League clubs who are looking at him who have seen enough quality there,”

Rodon may get better offers

While Rodon appeared to really enjoy his loan spell at Leeds, it would be hard to blame him for snubbing the Whites this summer.

After such a successful loan campaign, Rodon is surely now ready to kick on and become a Premier League star.

There will be better offers on the table for Rodon, not only in terms of level of football, but also financially.

As a Championship club, Leeds won’t be able to compete with most teams in the Premier League, and, as shallow as it is to say, Rodon may well end up just following the money here.

Sadly, Rodon may have already played his final game for Leeds.
