‘I was told today’: Journalist has just heard £47m Liverpool target is actually up for sale now

Liverpool have been linked with a number of new players heading into the summer transfer window.

The Reds have been linked with a number of different centre-back options, but perhaps the most intriguing link as of late has been to an attacking player.

Indeed, Real Madrid’s Rodrygo Goes is a player the Reds are said to be very keen on, and according to Duncan Castles, speaking on The Transfers Podcast, Rodrygo is in fact up for sale.

Rodrygo is up for sale

Castles spoke about the £47m Brazilian, claiming that Madrid are up for selling the Liverpool target.

“I will just add a bit of information in there. I was told today that although Madrid aren’t actively marketing him, Madrid would be open to selling Rodrygo this summer if they got a good offer for the player, because they have an oversupply of forwards,” Castles said.

Rodrygo sale makes sense

As good as Rodrygo has been for Real Madrid, a sale this summer would make sense.

With Kylian Mbappe and Endrick both coming in, Rodrygo’s place will be under threat, and Madrid may need to sell a few players to balance the books if they’re going to be paying Mbappe’s goliath wages in any case.

Of course, whenever Madrid sell a star player, there’s a huge opportunity on the transfer market, and bargains are there to be had.

Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder were famous casualties that Madrid lived to regret at the Bernabeu in the late 2000s, and Rodrygo could be a similar story now 15 years on.

Liverpool appear to be primed and ready to pounce if Rodrygo is indeed available on the market, and this certainly looks to be a situation to keep an eye on.

The Real Madrid winger could well be Premier League-bound this summer.
