Gary Neville says he agrees with what he’s heard about one Man City player recently

Gary Neville has said that he agrees with one claim that has been made about one Manchester City player recently.

The pundit and former Manchester United player has recently watched the Citizens become the first side to win four Premier League titles in a row.

With June set to see the start of the European Championship kick off in Germany, it’s likely that Neville will be watching a significant number of Premier League players in action for their countries before the next domestic season gets underway later on in the year.

Now though, the former full-back has shared his thoughts on one particular City player and what the upcoming international tournament could hold for him.

Speaking in a recent episode of The Overlap, Neville had this to say during his conversation with Wayne Rooney after the former striker said that Phil Foden must be a regular starter for England in the upcoming Euros.

He said: “I agree with you, Foden has to play. I said in the last World Cup that if Phil Foden can’t start for England, we’ve got a real problem. He’s that good, isn’t he?”

Looking back to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Foden started three of the four games he appeared in, scoring one goal and delivering two assists along the way.

In more recent times, the 24-year-old has completed the full 90 minutes in all of England’s five previous games, which suggests he’s an important figure for Gareth Southgate.

Foden’s form this season must secure him a starting place for England

Having scored 27 goals and delivered 12 assists in 53 games this season across all competitions, we agree with Rooney and Neville that Foden’s form across the recent campaign must have earned the City star a spot in Gareth Southgate’s starting XI for the upcoming summer tournament.

If that ends up being the case, it’s safe to say that a lot of City supporters will be hoping to see Foden perform for England in the same manner he has done for his club this season.
