‘Wouldn’t surprise me’: Journalist reckons Real Madrid could come in for ‘excellent’ Tottenham player

Real Madrid have a history of pinching Tottenham’s best players.

From Luka Modric to Gareth Bale, Madrid have often taken Spurs’ best players away from north London.

Now, Madrid have been tipped to come after another one of Tottenham’s star players.

Indeed, speaking on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast, Rob Guest has predicted that Real Madrid may eventually come in for Cristian Romero.

The journalist was full of praise for Romero, claiming that he’s been excellent this season, but he did warn that there could be some transfer interest before too long.

Real Madrid could come for Cristian Romero

Guest spoke about Romero and potential interest from Real Madrid.

“Excellent. I think he was one of Tottenham’s standout players. A rock at the back. I’m sure there will be some transfer interest in the future in him. He’s always done well, it wouldn’t surprise me if like Real Madrid came in for him at some point,” Guest said.

Romero ready for a big move

As painful as it will be for Tottenham to lose Romero, it has to be said that he looks ready for a big move.

The defender has been fantastic for Tottenham this season, and, as a World Cup winner, he should probably be playing regular Champions League football.

Tottenham are a team that appear to be on the up, but the reality is that they’re once again not going to be playing in the Champions League next season, and that means that their star players are vulnerable to being plucked by Europe’s elite sides.

As Guest says, it may not be this summer, but it wouldn’t be a shock if one of the biggest teams in the world end up coming in for Romero before too long.

Sadly, it may be difficult for Tottenham to keep Romero in the long-term.
