‘The standout’: Micah Richards says Man City transfer target has been unbelievable this season

Micah Richards has said that one reported Manchester City transfer target has really impressed him this season.

The Citizens have a track record when it comes to signing players from fellow Premier League sides.

For example, the Blues have signed players such as Mateo Kovacic, Matheus Nunes and Kalvin Phillips from clubs across the country in recent years.

With another summer transfer window around the corner, the Manchester club have once again found themselves being linked with numerous top-flight stars.

Now though, one pundit and former City player has shared praise for one particular Premier League figure who the Blues apparently have on their transfer radar.

Speaking in a recent episode of The Rest Is Football, Richards had this to say about Rayan Ait-Nouri, who City reportedly have an interest in, and how he performed this season compared to some of Wolves’ other star players.

He said: “I think Wolves can kick on if they can keep everyone fit. You mentioned [Matheus] Cunha, top scorer.

“Obviously, [Pedro] Neto was injured for big parts of the season. They have got [Pablo] Sarabia. I remember watching him at PSG, very good. [Mario] Lemina as well. Really good energy in midfield.

“But the standout for me was [Rayan] Ait-Nouri from left-back at times going into midfield as well when needed. Sometimes even the free role.”

Ait-Nouri showed his talent this season

This season saw the left-back start 32 of the 38 games he appeared in across the Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

In his 33 Premier League games this season, the 22-year-old racked up the joint-fourth-highest number of shot-creating actions (65) and combined total of tackles and interceptions (86) in the Wolves squad.

This highlights how useful the Algerian is on the ball in terms of creating chances for his side as well as out of possession trying to win the ball back.

Now that Richards has shared how impressed he has been with Ait-Nouri this season, it’ll be interesting to see if City launch a move to sign the Wolves full-back this summer.
