According to this report, both Liverpool and Newcastle are interested in Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.
Mbeumo has been starring for Brentford for a long time now, but, for some reason, he hasn’t been at the centre of many transfer rumours.
Mbeumo made his name in the famous BMW trio at Brentford alongside Ollie Watkins and Said Benrahma, and while his two teammates got moves, the £5m man has stayed at the Bees.
Nowadays, Ivan Toney is the man at the centre of most of the transfer attention at Brentford, but for the first time in a long time, Mbeumo is being linked with a move to a top club now.
Mbeumo is said to be a target for Liverpool, and that is a mouth-watering prospect.
Mbeumo would’ve been perfect for Klopp
The timing of this rumour is almost frustrating in a lot of ways.
Indeed, Mbeumo is being linked to Liverpool just after the departure of Jurgen Klopp, and we can’t help but feel that the Cameroonian star would’ve been brilliant under Klopp.
Mbeumo is a fantastic presser and a brilliant runner in behind, and with Klopp’s coaching, he could’ve been a star for Liverpool.
It’s not quite clear how Arne Slot will play at Liverpool, but if he does pick up where Klopp left off, Mbeumo would be a smart first signing.
Interestingly, Mbeumo is also one of the Premier League’s fastest players, and, in fact, he actually clocked a quicker top speed than Mohamed Salah last season.
Mbeumo has the potential to be a star at a top Premier League club, and he may well end up at Liverpool this summer if Lequipe are to be believed.
