Joke about Melania Trump ‘statement’ on Donald Trump verdict taking people ‘a minute’

In the wake of the jury’s verdict on the case, many are wondering whether his wife Melania will offer a statement on the proceedings.

She has yet to comment, but Uncovered co-host Ron Filipkowski has tweeted out a joke on the subject that’s already received a massive 53k likes.

“Statement from Melania Trump supporting her beloved husband:” the caption reads, anchoring a blank picture. You may click on it to see if there’s been an issue with it loading, but that’s what is it: nothing.

Meant to illustrate her silence on her husband’s trial, it’s a joke that may need a moment. “Took me a minute,” somebody reacted with a laughing emoji. Another replied with a meme of Melania’s face repeated nine times with different emotions underneath.

The meaning behind the joke? Melania hasn’t appeared at her husband’s trial even once, which saw him found guilty of falsifying business records to cover up a payment made to adult film star Stormy Daniels, whom he allegedly slept with one year after tying the knot with Melania.

“Remember that Trump also told Stormy that he could get her on The Apprentice,” someone claimed in a tweet. “And he introduced her to Melania!”

Donald Trump says the trial was ‘rigged’ in the wake of his verdict

Reacting to his guilty verdict at the courthouse, Donald offered a statement.

“This was a rigged trial by a conflicted judge who was corrupt,” he claimed. “This was a rigged trial, a disgrace.”

Speaking on CNN, his lawyer Todd Blanche addressed that they will be appealing the verdict “as soon as we can”.

On the other hand, others have expressed that they feel the verdict marks a victory of justice.

“Twelve everyday jurors vowed to make a decision based on the evidence and the law and the evidence and the law alone,” Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg began. “Their deliberations led them to a unanimous conclusion beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant Donald J Trump is guilty.”

He explained that “While this defendant might be unlike any other in American history, we arrived at this trial and ultimately today this verdict in the same manner as every other case.”

It took the jury under 12 hours to reach a verdict. Even in the event Trump is jailed, which experts say is unlikely as the charges are class E felonies and he has no criminal record, however, he can still run for president.
