‘I’m told’: Newcastle will try to sign £50m Chelsea player if they sell Bruno Guimaraes – journalist

Bruno Guimaraes has been tipped to leave Newcastle United this summer.

The Brazilian has a £100m release clause included in his deal that is active this summer, and, with the likes of Arsenal circling, there’s a worry that the Magpies could lose their star man.

If Guimaraes does go, he will need replacing, and an England international has been touted as a potential option.

Speaking on the London is Blue Podcast, Ben Jacobs has been discussing Conor Gallagher’s future at Chelsea, and he’s suggested that the £50m Chelsea man could head to St James’ Park if Guimaraes leaves.

Conor Gallagher could replace Bruno Guimaraes

Jacobs shared what he knows about Gallagher, claiming that he could replace Newcastle’s star man.

“We know that Gallagher wants to stay but if the right offer comes Chelsea will accept and then it will be up to Gallagher. We can’t rule out a new deal, but there is still a likelihood that Gallagher is sold. Tottenham are interested, Aston Villa are one to watch and if Newcastle lose Bruno Guimaraes, Newcastle will be in the conversation as well.

“The number Chelsea will be looking for will be £50m or more I’m told.”

Gallagher could be brilliant for Eddie Howe

Losing Bruno Guimaraes will be a serious blow for Newcastle, but if Gallagher comes in, he could be fantastic for Eddie Howe.

It’s not a comparison that is often made, but Gallagher and Guimaraes aren’t all that different as players.

Both of these players have limitless energy, while they also have plenty of technical ability.

Guimaraes is probably better than Gallagher on a technical level, and this would be somewhat of a downgrade, but Gallagher would suit Howe’s style of play with his energetic style and aggressive pressing.

This could be a very clever signing if Newcastle do opt to go in this direction.
