'Cut-price deal': Reported Liverpool target likened to Sadio Mane could cost as little as £30m - journalist

Liverpool have a busy summer ahead of them on the transfer front as the Arne Slot era gets under way at Anfield.

Not only have the Reds appointed Slot to replace Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield dugout, but there have also been changes behind the scenes.

Richard Hughes will soon begin work as Liverpool’s sporting director, while Michael Edwards has become FSG’s CEO of Football.

They will be eager to not only maintain continuity from the Klopp era, but build on the solid foundations put in place at Anfield.

Plenty of top players have been linked with a switch to Anfield, including one of the Championship’s stars of 2023/24.

The player in question is Crysencio Summerville. Football Transfers reported in April that Liverpool had the Leeds United winger in their sights.

Now, Ben Jacobs has provided a positive update regarding how much the Reds could potentially expect to pay for Summerville.

How much could Liverpool have to pay for Crysencio Summerville?

Jacobs, writing on GiveMeSport, believes Leeds’ failure in getting promoted means they’ll have to cash in on some of their main assets, potentially for cut-price fees.

“Where they are moving at the moment is around this wide attack-minded player,” wrote Jacobs. “And Crysencio Summerville is on their radar.

“And now that Leeds haven’t got promoted, there may be more of a cut-price deal available for somewhere between £30-£40million. That would have been higher, had Leeds got promoted.

“Because they’ve not gone up, Leeds are definitely going to have to look to sell some of their star assets.

“So there may be a deal available there for potentially close to half the price of a player like (Dani) Olmo, and in exactly the kind of profile that Liverpool are looking for.”

Who is Liverpool target Crysencio Summerville?

Crysencio Summerville joined Leeds from Feyenoord in 2020, initially linking up with their youth team, but it didn’t take long for him to become a first-team regular.

The Dutchman has made 89 competitive senior appearances for the Whites, registering 25 goals and 12 assists.

Summerville really came to the fore this season, with 21 goals and 10 assists from 49 outings in all competitions.

His efforts for Leeds in the league earned him the Championship Player of the Season award in April.

As per The Express, Summerville’s style of play has been compared to that of Liverpool cult hero Sadio Mane.
