Jose Mourinho has already asked Fenerbahce about signing £38m Chelsea player this summer - journalist

Incoming Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho has already mentioned to the Turkish club that they should consider signing one Chelsea player this summer.

It looks like Jose Mourinho, 61, is about to seal a return to management for the first time since Roma sacked him in January.

The Portuguese coach, who had two successful spells at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea, could be going to Turkey for the first time.

Sky Sports claims that Mourinho is primed to sign a two-year deal with Fenerbahce after verbally agreeing to take charge in the dugout.

Jose Mourinho mentions Chelsea player to Fenerbahce

Journalist Rudy Galetti has reported via X that Mourinho has been discussing a transfer strategy with Fenerbahce during the last few weeks while reaching the agreement for him to become the new manager next season.

Apparently, Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku is one of the strikers mentioned by Mourinho.

Mourinho has coached Lukaku in the past at Chelsea, Manchester United and Roma. In total, the Belgian centre-forward has scored 47 goals in 101 games under his management.

So, could the duo soon be reunited again in Turkey?

Lukaku has just completed a successful loan season in Italy with Roma, but his Chelsea deal doesn’t expire until 2026.

Romelu Lukaku is in demand

CaughtOffside also claims that Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce are willing to join the summer race to sign Lukaku.

It is explained that the 31-year-old attacker is in demand as clubs from Serie A, the Premier League and the Saudi Pro League circle.

The report says that Chelsea want clubs to pay his £38m release clause in full, which could put Fenerbahce at a disadvantage.

Regardless of the move, it would just be great for all parties if Chelsea could sell Lukaku on a permanent basis this summer.
