Report: Arsenal and Liverpool are now lurking in the race to sign ‘world class’ midfielder

Midfielders, once again, appear to be the order of the day in the Premier League this summer.

Last year, the biggest moves in the window centred around the likes of Moises Caicedo, Declan Rice, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, and, once again, midfield players could be at the centre of the transfer storm.

Indeed, the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City are all in the market for a new midfielder this summer, and one player who seems to have captured all of their attentions is Bruno Guimaraes.

The Newcastle midfielder has been linked with all three clubs as of late, and according to Rudy Galetti, there’s now a frontrunner in this race.

Manchester City favourites for Bruno Guimaraes

According to Galetti, Manchester City are ready to start talks about signing Bruno Guimaraes.

However, they’re not the only club interested, but it’s said that their interest is the most advanced.

Indeed, Arsenal and Liverpool are mentioned here, but it’s said that the two Premier League contenders are on the sidelines rather than leading this race.

Guimaraes race could be interesting

This could be a very interesting transfer battle between three of the Premier League’s best and richest clubs.

City are heading this race, but don’t discount Arsenal or Liverpool.

The Gunners flexed their financial might when signing Declan Rice last season, while Liverpool also have that sort of financial power behind them – as shown by their £111m bid for Moises Caicedo, even if that deal didn’t go ahead.

Guimaraes has a £100m release clause in his contract, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if all three of these teams contemplated triggering that clause, and, from there, it’s anybody’s guess as to what will happen.

Guimaraes is a fantastic player who would improve any of these teams next season, and Newcastle won’t be keen to lose their ‘world class’ star man.
