'Clear favourites': Chelsea now close to completing the signing of 'fast' English player - journalist

Chelsea are reportedly on the verge of completing the signing of one transfer target.

Despite the fact Chelsea have been working behind the scenes selecting their new manager, it sounds like the club’s recruitment team have been equally busy with transfers as well.

The Blues are widely expected to appoint Leicester City’s Enzo Maresca as the next head coach at Stamford Bridge. In fact, The Telegraph says Maresca has signed a five-year deal, but supporters continue to wait for an official announcement from the club.

Chelsea close to signing defender

Romano has claimed via X on Saturday morning that Chelsea are closing in on a deal to sign Tosin Adarabioyo.

With the 26-year-old’s contract expiring at Fulham this summer, he’s been at the centre of a transfer saga as clubs try to land him on a free transfer.

Romano explains that Chelsea are in the “final stages” of signing Adarabioyo,

The Blues are “clear favourites” to sign the English centre-back despite interest from Newcastle United and attempts to take him to St James’ Park.

Tosin Adarabioyo is nearly a blue

It looks like this summer will soon kick off for Chelsea with what could turn out to be a really shrewd signing.

Adarabioyo, 26, is a proven Premier League defender that goes under the radar.

The English centre-half, who’s a product of the Manchester City academy, has played 78 Premier League matches in Fulham colours.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola once said about Adarabioyo via GOAL: “He is fast, strong in the air, and has the quality to look forward behind the line for the next pass.”

This isn’t the kind of marquee signing that would get supporters out of their seats, but The Chelsea Chronicle rates adding a bit of experience and know-how to the defensive ranks. His 6ft 5in frame could come in handy with a relatively small squad, too!
