'Priority target ': Player Pep Guardiola called 'incredible' is now 'very keen' to join Man United - journalist

One Premier League player is now said to be ‘very keen’ to join Manchester United this summer.

The Red Devils’ priority right now is to decide the fate of Erik ten Hag. He was on the brink of getting sacked but the FA Cup win against Manchester City could potentially save his job.

Irrespective of who’s in charge, Manchester United will have to focus on new signings, and one of their ‘priority’ targets has now decided on his next move.

Michael Olise makes decision on Manchester United transfer

Crystal Palace star Michael Olise is set to become a wanted man this summer.

The Frenchman had a fine season for the Eagles in the 2023/24 campaign. He scored 10 goals and provided six assists in just 19 Premier League appearances.

That is an amazing return, and it is no surprise at all that he has been linked with a move to several big clubs in England.

Chelsea have had an eye on Olise for a long time, while Arsenal retain an interest in the Crystal Palace winger too.

However, Ben Jacobs has claimed that Olise is a ‘priority target’ for Manchester United. He was added to the list by the old regime at Old Trafford and has been approved by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co as well.

In January, reports claimed that Olise would rather join Arsenal than Manchester United. A few months later, it was revealed that if the choice was between Chelsea and Erik ten Hag’s side, he would choose the latter.

Now, Jacobs has claimed that Olise is ‘very keen’ to sign for Manchester United this summer.

He told GiveMeSport: ““It’s quite a fluid situation for Manchester United, because they don’t really know where to attack first until the outgoings present themselves in full and that will define the budget.

“But in an ideal world, regardless of budgetary concerns, and having to wait for outgoings, Michael Olise is a priority target for Manchester United and, by all accounts, he would be very keen on joining as well.

“So there is serious and credible interest there. And he’s the target endorsed if you like by the old regime, and this new INEOS-led regime who now control the sporting side of things.”

Signing Olise could push one Manchester United player out of the door

Manchester United scored just 57 goals in the Premier League in the 2023/24 season.

That’s the joint-worst record of any team inside the top half of the table last term. 10th place Crystal Palace, who had Roy Hodgson as their manager for over half of the season, were the only other team in the top 10 to have such a small goal tally.

That’s probably why Manchester United are so keen to strengthen their attack, and Olise would be a magnificent signing for them.

The Frenchman, branded as ‘incredible‘ by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, mostly plays on the right wing, so his arrival will surely push Antony down the pecking order, and perhaps even out of the door.

The former Ajax man has scored just five goals in 55 Premier League games across two seasons. That is simply not good enough – some have even branded him as a ‘shocking failure‘.

If INEOS do sign Olise, we think that would be the end of Antony’s Manchester United career.
