Vanderpump Rules fans lining up to Something About Her, Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney’s new sandwich shop, will “only see” one of the cast member’s parents, according to its former chef.
The long-awaited sandwich shop is finally open! After seeing the Vanderpump Rules BFF duo work on its launch for what felt like forever, Ariana and Katie have now opened its doors to the public.
Something About Her finally opens
The Something About Her restaurant, located at 649 N Robertson Boulevard, opened its doors to the public on Wednesday, May 22 at 10am PST, after a much-anticipated delay.
Bravo fans queued for hours for the highly-praised sandwiches. One example from the new menu is The Meg, a Greek salad sandwich made with tzatziki, feta cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, herb mix, and lettuce.
The restaurant’s former chef, Penny Davidi, claims the sandwiches “sound sexy but are underwhelming” in a US Sun interview and is “not the vision she had for the place” when she was initially hired.
Former chef has her say on menu
Penny has slammed Something About Her’s menu in a US Sun interview, saying the sandwiches use too many different types of bread, and worries that it’ll be hard to keep up the initial buzz.
“They don’t know how to cross-utilize. I would not bring in five different kinds of bread for 10 sandwiches,” she remarked. “I also would not put certain sandwiches on certain kinds of bread.”
Penny added, “Keeping the business going will be challenging. It’s a once-and-done kind of place. It’s not a business that can be scaled. Their overhead is going to be too high and can’t make enough product.”
Ariana and Katie had stopped communicating with their chef over business matters that they “didn’t see eye to eye on,” while the former employee claims the menu is not what she’d had in mind originally.
Fans will ‘only see’ Katie’s mom
Vanderpump Rules fans may be hoping to meet Ariana or Katie at the sandwich shop, but the reality is that they’ll only see Katie’s mom, Teri, according to former chef, Penny.
Katie grew up in her mom’s restaurants and went to work for her parent at 13 as a kitchen expediter, so Terri absolutely knows what she’s doing when it comes to the food industry.
Ariana will be absent from at an upcoming major event at the eatery, but during the grand opening, she and Katie did take photos and chat to customers waiting in the hours-long queue.
