Cesc Fabregas has suggested that one Real Madrid midfielder is better than Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne.

Having won numerous titles for club and country throughout his playing career, the former Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea star certainly knows what it takes to be a top-level midfield player.

In 737 senior club games across all competitions, Fabregas scored 125 goals and delivered 213 assists.

Now though, the 37-year-old has shared his verdict on two of Europe’s big-name midfielders, one of which he feels is better than De Bruyne.

In a recent video shared on the official Champions League TikTok channel, Fabregas was partaking in a winner-stays-on challenge involving some of Europe’s current midfield stars.

When asked to pick between De Bruyne and Toni Kroos, the Spaniard had this to say in response.

He said: “For my style of play, Kroos.”

De Bruyne vs Kroos

Ahead of tonight’s Champions League final between Real and Borussia Dortmund, Kroos has made 464 appearances for the Spanish club in all competitions.

Across those games, the German has scored 28 goals and delivered 98 assists, winning numerous trophies along the way including four La Liga titles and four Champions Leagues.

In comparison, De Bruyne has scored 102 goals and supplied 170 assists in 382 appearances for City.

At the end of his latest season with the Manchester club, the Belgian lifted his sixth Premier League title.

Even though the Real star played over 900 more minutes in La Liga this season than De Bruyne did in the Premier League, the City star still ended the campaign with more goal contributions (14 vs 9) than Kroos.

In addition to that, the Belgian has a higher rate of shot-creating actions per 90 minutes (7.36 vs 4.24) and goal-creating actions per 90 minutes (1.18 vs 0.47) than the Real midfielder.

With all of that in mind, it’s interesting to see that Fabregas picked Kroos over De Bruyne after saying he made his decision based on his own style of play.
