TV star says where he stands with former cast after 17-page email saga

Summer House season 8’s reunion is right around the corner. As the show’s current cast gets ready to rehash all the drama this June, a former star of the show, Stephen McGee, reveals where he stands with Kyle Cooke, Amanda Batula, and co years on from his exit.

Bravo star Stephen McGee catches up with SiriusXM’s KiKi Monique and lifts the lid on what went down between himself and his Summer House co-stars back in the day. Many moments from the show have raised eyebrows over the years, and Kyle’s 17-page email ahead of season 3 was one of them.

Stephen McGee on Summer House

In 2017, Summer House was a brand new show to Bravo. Seven years ago, many of the same faces were original cast members of season 1 including Kyle Cooke and Lindsay Hubbard.

Amanda Batula was a “friend of” the cast back in the day, before joining as a full-time cast member in season 2.

Carl Radke is also an OG cast member, along with Danielle Olivera who joined in season 2.

One Summer House star who no longer stars on the show, however, is Stephen McGee.

Stephen appeared in seasons 1 and 2 before leaving the reality TV show for good.

Although he’s no longer a cast member, Stephen is still good pals with many of his former co-stars and he’s also in cahoots with more Bravo stars.

Speaking on SiriusXM’s Reality Checked this May, Stephen says he found himself having to “pick a side” in Vanderpump Rules beef.

He said: “I’m the closest with the Vanderpump people. I’m very close with Kristen, Brittany, not so much Jax anymore.”

Stephen explained he “had to pick a side between Brittany and Jax,” adding: “Brittany is the nicest person in the world, so that was the side I was gonna pick.”

Stephen and Kyle made up

Speaking to Kiki Monique on the SiriusXM show, he revealed Brittany was very understanding when it came to the moment he’d potentially have to see his Summer House co-stars after years without communication.

He said: “I had not seen them probably in two or three years and the last communication I had was the 17-page email.”

Kyle exclusively explained his lengthy email to ET in 2019: “…a lot happens in the fall, winter, and spring and we don’t really pick up where we left off…” adding: “…the email was kind of breaking the silence.”

Everyone in the cast was sent the email, according to Stephen.

He said: “It’s like, honestly, it’s the most ridiculous thing. I laugh about it now, but at the time I was like, “How could this person be so…” 17 pages is a lot. I could not even write a 17-page paper in college when I had to.”

Now, he says he’s back on good terms with the cast: “Kyle and Amanda and I made up in 2019 actually via Kristen Doute. Kristen Doute facilitated that makeup.”

Speaking of his relationship with Kyle now, Stephen said:

“To be honest, it’s like, I think I have this relationship with Kyle. I mean he is kind of like a brother to me. We’re very similar, so we do butt heads a lot. Immediately, he came into this little dumpy bar in the middle of a blizzard, and we just hugged and I apologized. He apologized. I think after, because he had already filmed I think two more seasons, and I think he experienced some of the things that we were experiencing of why we were upset and he was on the same end and he told me at that time, he was like, ‘You know, I understand why you were mad’.”
