Report: West Ham have just made move to sign attacker who David Moyes has already labelled a ‘big player’

West Ham United have made an ‘official offer’ to sign a winger who David Moyes has already lauded as a ‘big player’.

It looks set to be a busy summer for the Hammers as Julen Lopetegui goes about shaping the current squad in his image.

The former Wolves boss will have big shoes to fill at the London Stadium as he replaces the man who guided West Ham to their first European trophy in 58 years.

West Ham’s current crop of players is very much a Moyes squad after the Scotsman was backed significantly over the past four and a half years.

The east Londoners are expected to target attacking reinforcements for Lopetegui and Wilfried Zaha has emerged as a surprise target.

Now, according to Fotospor, West Ham have made an official offer to land the Ivorian winger.

West Ham make Wilfried Zaha offer

The outlet claims that West Ham have made a ‘first official offer’ to sign Zaha this summer.

Lopetegui’s men are ready to listen to the Turkish giants’ demands, providing a response lands within three days.

It’s noted that Galatasaray want around £10.2 million for the winger, just a year after signing him on a free transfer.

What Moyes said about Zaha

West Ham fans will be more than familiar with Zaha’s quality after the winger spent eight years in the Premier League with Crystal Palace.

The 31-year-old netted five times and provided two assists in 17 appearances against the Hammers.

He also received huge praise from Moyes back in November 2022 as the Scotsman claimed he could play for the ‘top teams’.

“Wilf looks as though he has matured greatly and he could play for a number of top teams, if he chose to do so,” Moyes said.

“Sometimes, when you feel like you’re at home and you are enjoying your surroundings… he is a big player for them and a key ingredient to Palace.”

He added: “From that point of view, the grass isn’t always greener. I have no doubt Wilf could play for many other teams if he chose to do so.”
