Eerie coincidences behind Taylor Swift's obsession that makes it difficult to disprove

Taylor Swift seems to have an obsession with the number 13, and it stems from years of coincidental incidents involving the numerical figure. The pop star previously revealed a list of reasons why the specific digits has had an impact on her life, and of course, Swifties have since added to that list.

Even if you don’t usually believe in superstitions, once you realize the reasons behind Taylor Swift‘s obsession, you must admit that the number 13 has cropped up far too many coincidental times throughout the singer’s crazy career…

While Taylor Swift is busy thriving on the Eras Tour, some fans like to reminisce on old times – including when the celebrity first showed an interest in the number 13.

Swifties first began to notice Taylor Swift’s fondness for the number 13 was during the “Fearless Tour” in 2009 and 2010 when the singer drew “13” on the back of her hand before each performance.

The music star revealed, in a 2009 interview with MTV News, why she often drew it before going on stage: “I was born on the 13th. I turned 13 on Friday the 13th. My first album went gold in 13 weeks.” The list continues.

Taylor is currently 34 years old and was in fact born on December 13, 1989, and she did turn age 13 on Friday, 13th December 2002.

Taylor Swift is the debut studio album by the singer-songwriter, and it was released in North America on October 24, 2006, and elsewhere on March 18, 2008.

In the MTV News interview, Taylor continues: “Every time I’ve ever won an award in an award show, I’ve either been seated in the 13th row or row ‘M’, which is the 13th letter.”

When she won the Horizon Award during the CMA Awards show in Nashville, 2007, she shared that the producer came up to her when she was sound checking and said: “Alright, we’re gonna go in 13 seconds.”

Is it getting weird, yet?

It doesn’t stop there! More spooky reasons surrounding the number 13 include her 2005 unreleased song titled “Thirteen Blocks”.

“The Lucky One” is the 13th track on her album Red, it has a 13-second intro and the word “lucky” is sang 13 times in the song.

At the 2024 Grammy Awards, she announced the release of her next album (The Tortured Poets Department) after reminding the crowd: “This is my 13th Grammy. Which is my lucky number. I don’t know if I’ve ever told you that.”

Although it might be a reach, some Swifties even think Taylor Swift’s lucky number 13 could have connected her to Travis Kelce during the Super Bowl back in February.

2024’s Super Bowl that took place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas was the 58th in its history, and some fans noticed that when you add 5 to 8, you get 13…

It’s getting spooky.

Significance of the number 13 explained

The number 13 is considered an unlucky number in some countries, but rather the opposite is suggested in some ways. According to Samira 13, it has many meanings in numerology (the study of numbers in the belief that they have a special importance in people’s lives).

Some consider 13 as the ‘sacred number’ and is thought to be a very karmic number in numerology. It is also associated with the divine and is said to bring good luck and prosperity to those who embrace it.

Also known as the ‘Angel Number’ in some cultures, 13 symbolizes leading with love and compassion, and remaining positive in the face of negativity.

If the number 13 really is a symbol of being passionate about one’s ambitions and aiding in finding future successes, then it makes sense as to why it has cropped up so many times in Taylor Swift’s incredible career.
