Report: Club now determined not to sell £20m player to Tottenham this summer

Tottenham look set to face difficulty in signing one of Ange Postecoglou’s targets this summer – as the player’s club plan to dig their heels in.

Spurs have already made progress with one deal as a move to bring Timo Werner back to N17 on loan is practically sealed.

Now, Tottenham are turning attentions towards a Championship star – although the move does not seem straightforward by any means…

Sunderland hope to frustrate Tottenham in Jobe Bellingham pursuit

A story from the Guardian now claims that Tottenham hope to sign Sunderland No.7 Jobe Bellingham this summer.

The younger brother of Jude Bellingham has made a name for himself as a similarly precocious talent across spells at Birmingham and Sunderland – scoring seven goals in 45 Championship appearances last season from central midfield.

Sunderland owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus is believed to be determined to keep the 18-year-old at the Stadium of Light as he aims for promotion in the 2024/25 campaign, and views the teenager as a crucial player.

In the event of any sale, the Frenchman would demand upwards of £20m for Bellingham, who is also attracting interest from Crystal Palace, Brentford and Borussia Dortmund.

Birmingham are said to have a sell-on clause worth 15%, so the Black Cats understandably want a large fee.

Spurs could sign a different attacking midfielder

If a move for Bellingham fails to progress, Tottenham have eyes on a different attacking midfielder – Ebere Eze.

A story from Football Transfers states that Spurs plan to step up their interest in the England international across the next two weeks, with Crystal Palace believed to be willing to sell for £60m.

Those close to Eze were also spotted in a private box at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last season, adding fuel to the fire.

As aforesaid, Crystal Palace are also interested in Bellingham, so it is possible – in our view at least – that the Eagles may be more open to selling Eze if they can secure the Sunderland wonderkid.

Be sure to keep an eye on developments at Spurs, as signings are expected.
