Report shares the type of signing Evangelos Marinakis wants most at Nottingham Forest this summer

Evangelos Marinakis wants Nottingham Forest to sign one specific type of player more than any other this summer.

The 56-year-old will soon begin his third Premier League campaign as owner at the City Ground, and will hope to avoid another relegation battle after two close shaves with the Championship.

So, what type of signing does Evangelos Marinakis want to see at Nottingham Forest this summer? Let’s take a look…

Evangelos Marinakis wants specific profile at Nottingham Forest

A story from The Athletic now claims that the Greek businessman specifically wants Nottingham Forest to sign players he can flip for a huge profit.

The Garibaldi already own several footballers who could be sold for much more than Nottingham Forest initially paid, such as Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Nottingham Forest now value the England international at £30m – having signed him in 2023 for just £3m – amid interest from Tottenham.

The Reds are also said to value Murillo – who cost just £15m – at a whopping £70m after his excellent debut campaign at the City Ground.

Therefore, Ross Wilson has already proven he can find this type of footballer in his role as Director of Football at the City Ground, and Marinakis now wants more of them as he aims to balance finances at Nottingham Forest.

Nuno Espirito Santo needs a balance

In our view, we would be quite disillusioned if Marinakis is just thinking about profit margins – rather than recruiting players who can help Nottingham Forest do something special.

Of course, signing profiles similar to Hudson-Odoi and Murillo is a great idea, but if Nuno Espirito Santo is to do something memorable at Nottingham Forest, he should be afforded older, more experienced players if he wants them, or else it could lead to an unbalance in the dressing room.

After all, Chelsea have shown the downfalls of focusing too heavily on recruiting young talent, stripping the Stamford Bridge dressing room of almost everybody over the age of 30 – while struggling tremendously as a result.

Hopefully, Nottingham Forest can keep finding value for money in deals like the £15m move for Murillo, but also show a desire to bolster the starting XI with ready made stars as well if the price is right.
