Serie A club have made official approach to sign £20m Tottenham player, talks are ongoing

Tottenham Hotspur have received an approach from a Serie A club over a permanent move for one player, Fabrizio Romano claims.

There is likely to be plenty of outgoings at Tottenham this summer as Ange Postecoglou continues to re-shape his squad.

A disappointing end to the season highlighted the need for change at Spurs after Postecoglou’s side suffered five defeats in their last seven league games.

It’s already been claimed that the Lilywhites are willing to offload 15 players this summer, with the club looking at reinforcements all over the pitch.

Tottenham will also face the task of offloading their loan stars over the coming weeks, with the likes of Djed Spence, Tanguy Ndombele, Japhet Tanganga, Sergio Reguilon and Joe Rodon all likely to be surplus to requirements.

And according to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs have already received an approach over the permanent transfer of Spence.

Genoa make Djed Spence approach

Spence headed out on loan at Leeds United last summer but his spell at Elland Road was cut short by Daniel Farke.

The 23-year-old spent the remainder of last season at Genoa, where he racked up 16 appearances in Serie A.

Previous reports claimed that the Italian outfit are keen to snap up Spence but are less keen on paying the £8.5 million option to sign him in full.

Now, Romano has shared the latest on Genoa’s interest in the Englishman and claims talks over a permanent move are ongoing.

He wrote: “Genoa have approached Tottenham to sign Djed Spence on permanent transfer.

“Negotiations ongoing between the two clubs and player side, it will depend on the price.”

Spence sale could provide funds for new full-back signing

Tottenham will head into the summer needing adequate cover for both Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie.

We’ve seen enough from Emerson Royal and Ben Davies to suggest both aren’t suited to Postecoglou’s demands of his full-backs.

It seems apparent that Spence doesn’t feature in Postecoglou’s plans either and if Spurs could pick up a fee for the Englishman, it would bolster their funds for a new full-back signing.

Kyle Walker-Peters has been linked with a return to Tottenham and would represent an intriguing option for Postecoglou.

The 27-year-old is able to play both full-back roles and has also displayed the ability to invert over the past year with Southampton.
