Tottenham now planning to open talks for signing of £60m Premier League star within two weeks

Tottenham Hotspur are planning to open talks with a Premier League side over one of their key players within two weeks.

Spurs technical director Johan Lange faces a busy summer transfer window ahead as Ange Postecoglou gears up for his second season in charge.

It proved to be a disappointing end to the season for Tottenham, with Postecoglou’s side picking up just two wins from their last seven Premier League games.

Postecoglou called for ‘change’ during a difficult run of results and Spurs will surely be hoping to get their business done early this summer.

And according to Football Transfers, that is very much the case as the Lilywhites are set to open talks with Crystal Palace over the signing of Eberechi Eze.

Tottenham planning Eberechi Eze talks

Eze has been long linked with a move to north London, with Spurs’ interest dating way back to 2020 before the Englishman left QPR to join Palace.

Tottenham’s interest has seemingly remained as Eze continues to impress at Selhurst Park.

Eze was even reportedly invited to this season’s north London derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which ended in a 3-2 defeat.

Now, just 11 days before the summer window officially opens, Football Transfers claims Spurs want to initiate talks with Palace over a deal for Eze.

It’s claimed that the midfielder is expecting the Eagles to honour a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ to allow him to leave this summer.

Palace are expected to demand at least £60 million for their prized asset while Spurs are looking to beat the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United to his signature.

Eze makes perfect sense for Tottenham

Given James Maddison’s difficult second half of the season, bringing in Eze would make plenty of sense for Postecoglou.

The Palace star is able to operate in an advanced midfield role as well as the left-hand side. This would be ideal for Spurs as they need a player in both positions.

Eze has also starred for Palace over the past year, racking up 15 goal involvements in just 27 Premier League appearances.

His agents boast a close connection to Spurs as he’s represented by CAA Base, which looks after Tottenham stars including Maddison, Heung-min Son, Pedro Porro, Pape Matar Sarr, as well as the current boss Postecoglou.
