Report: Tottenham have made contact over signing ‘amazing’ £8m Premier League player

Tottenham are looking for a new striker this summer.

Spurs still haven’t properly replaced Harry Kane after selling him to Bayern Munich last summer, and in this window, they need to sign a new centre-forward.

A number of new options have been linked from Ivan Toney to Santiago Gimenez, but now, Spurs are being linked with a Premier League option in the shape of Rodrigo Muniz.

Tottenham make contact over Rodrigo Muniz

According to Goal in Brazil, Tottenham and Chelsea have both made contact over signing Rodrigo Muniz from Fulham.

Of course, Spurs fans will know Muniz well from his performance against Tottenham earlier this year.

Indeed, Muniz scored twice as Spurs lost 3-0 to Fulham at Craven Cottage back in March.

This is an interesting potential signing for a number of reasons. Not only is Muniz a talented player, but he’s cut from the same cloth as Richarlison.

Indeed, much like Richarlison, Muniz has honed his craft under Marco Silva, and it’s fair to say these two players are rather similar, albeit, Muniz has more potential as the younger option.

Tottenham have to be careful

Muniz has perhaps been the hottest striker in the Premier League in 2024, but he’s only had six months’ worth of good form.

Tottenham need to consider the bigger picture before making this move. Otherwise, they could be left with another expensive flop on their hands.

Just 12 months ago, the ‘amazing‘ striker was struggling to get into the Middlesbrough team, and now, he’s being linked with a move to Tottenham – in a lot of ways, that doesn’t add up.

Of course, Muniz may have just improved massively over the past year and there’s reason to believe he’s ready to make this step up now. However, Spurs may want to wait on this one just to make sure he’s not another flash in the pan striker hitting a purple patch.
