‘Complicated’: Journalist says he’s heard about an issue with Arsenal and Benjamin Sesko now

Benjamin Sesko is being strongly linked with a move to Arsenal.

The RB Leipzig striker is said to be someone the Gunners are very keen on heading into the summer transfer window, and the north London club are said to be very keen to get a deal done.

However, according to Dean Jones, speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, there is a problem between Arsenal and getting this deal done.

The problem with Arsenal and Benjamin Sesko

Jones shared the problem between Arsenal and Sesko, noting that the striker’s release clause has to be triggered before the end of the month, but Arsenal don’t want to do any early deals due to Profit and Sustainability rules.

“One of the most interesting stories at the moment is around Benjamin Sesko. Leipzig would love him to stay and have a new contract drawn up for him. But at £55m it’s a fantastic opportunity for Premier League clubs to consider. Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in this deal from what I’m understand.

“What is complicated is that the clause needs to be triggered by the end of June, and I don’t think either of these clubs will want to make this move before the end of June and the financial complications that come with it as they look to balance the books. I’m pretty sure Arsenal aren’t looking to get really early business done, but Sesko, they will have to consider the complexities of it.”

Sesko deal will be difficult

This makes life very difficult for Arsenal.

As many will know, July 1 is a very important day in the footballing accounting calendar, and, usually, you don’t see much business done before that date.

However, if Arsenal want to sign Sesko, they have to act quickly, but, as the delayed deal for David Raya last summer showed, Arsenal are up against it in terms of financial restrictions right now.

Arsenal may struggle to get this deal done, despite the fact they’re clearly keen on Sesko.
