'World class' player would consider joining Arsenal this summer with Mikel Arteta said to be keen - journalist

A “world class” footballer would now consider joining Arsenal this summer amid a difficult contract situation at his current club.

Mikel Arteta has turned the Gunners from a laughing stock into one of Europe’s most attractive clubs, with Arsenal currently in a position to lure elite talent to the Emirates Stadium.

Now, Arsenal‘s rise under the Spaniard could see one of the best players for a European juggernaut move to north London…

Joshua Kimmich could join Arsenal

A story by Kerry Hau of Sky Germany now claims that Bayern Munich No.6 Joshua Kimmich would consider joining Arsenal this summer – if he decided to leave the Allianz Arena.

The Germany international initially sounded keen to stay in Bavaria, although Bayern Munich are yet to tell the 29-year-old that they actually want him to stay, which could lead to an exit.

Speaking live on air, Hau said: “So far, Bayern have not communicated a clear indication to Kimmich that they want to extend his contract. Max Eberl has not told Kimmich clearly, we want to extend with you after the Euros.

“That’s why the player has somewhat been left hanging. In case of a move, Kimmich would only join an absolute, ambitious top club. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal would be options for him. But at the moment, there are no talks with any other club. Bayern is still Kimmich’s first point of contact.”

The man from Rottweil only has 12 months remaining on his contract at this moment in time – so Bayern Munich need to make a decision soon, or else the German giants risk losing one of the best players in Europe for nothing in 2025.

Kimmich – who Julian Nagelsmann has called a “world class” footballer – made 43 appearances in the 2023/24 campaign, scoring two goals while also providing ten assists.

Mikel Arteta is keen

Not only does Kimmich view Arsenal as a club he would potentially join, but the Gunners see the Bayern Munich maestro as someone they would happily sign.

A story by Football Transfers claims that Arsenal are interested in a deal this summer if he does become available.

The Daily Star even believe Kimmich could be signed for just £25m due to his contract situation.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as the man who sent Arsenal out of the UEFA Champions League last season could soon be heading to the Emirates Stadium.
