Report: Along with Sesko, Chelsea are also considering PL striker who last scored a goal in November

Benjamin Sesko is not the only striker Chelsea are thinking about signing this summer.

The Blues announced Enzo Maresca as their new head coach on Monday, and the focus now turns to the summer transfer window.

Chelsea supporters are eager to see who their new boss will bring in. A new striker is the priority, and after strong links to Sesko, another name has come out of the rumour mill.

Chelsea considering Evan Ferguson along with Benjamin Sesko

Brighton and Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson is admired by several big clubs.

The talented 19-year-old caught everybody’s eye in the 2022/23 season at the Amex. He scored 10 goals in all competitions and was viewed by many as a superstar in the making.

In the 2023/24 season, however, Ferguson struggled, just like many of his teammates. He scored only six goals all campaign, the last of which came in November 2023 against Nottingham Forest.

That, however, hasn’t seemed to have deterred his suitors, as Chelsea are still said to have him on their list of targets for this summer.

That’s according to Ben Jacobs, who, on GiveMeSport. has shared the latest on rumours linking Chelsea with moves to sign Victor Osimhen, Sesko and Ferguson.

Firstly, the journalist has ruled out the possibility of Chelsea signing Osimhen – this deal will not happen this summer, as things stand.

Sesko, on the other hand, remains a key target, but the Blues face competition from the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United.

The third name is that of Ferguson – Jacobs has revealed that Chelsea are considering a move to sign him from Brighton this summer.

Ferguson could cost a fortune

Ferguson didn’t have a great season at Brighton, but that is unlikely to play a part on his price tag.

The Republic of Ireland international is still regarded as one of the best young strikers in the Premier League. His potential is huge and a journalist once even predicted he will be worth £200 million in 2024.

Back in November 2023, TalkSPORT claimed that it will take offers ‘well in excess of £100 million’ to tempt Brighton to sell the striker. That’s because he had only just signed a new contract then, and his deal does not expire until the summer of 2029.

Chelsea know better than others just how difficult it is to negotiate with Brighton – they had to smash their transfer record to sign Moises Caicedo in 2023, and they might have to get close to that figure to sign Ferguson now.

We just can’t see Brighton letting Ferguson go this summer unless they receive a massive offer.
