Report: 'Very fast' £30m striker West Ham wanted last summer is now up for sale and he wants to leave

A striker who was seemingly close to joining West Ham United last summer, is now up for sale amid reports that he wants to leave.

It seems as if Tim Steidten has considerable work to do in east London this summer, the man tasked with providing the tools for Julen Lopetegui’s new era to start successfully.

Lopetegui is thought to want up to eight new signings at West Ham this summer, aiming to have a competitive 25-man-squad.

David Moyes preferred to work with a smaller group, and such an influx of signings would represent a considerable change.

Despite the difficulties experienced, West Ham are still thought to be working on deals for Brazilian pair Luis Guilherme (18) and Fabricio Bruno (28) – with a Brazilian expert recently explaining what Hammers fans can expect from Guilherme.

Of course, even if those deals do get over the line, there will still be a lot of work to be done to complete this overhaul.

And with just Michail Antonio and Danny Ings to choose from, Lopetegui will surely be demanding a new striker.

Lens striker Elye Wahi now unhappy and up for sale after West Ham advances last summer

Right now, Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri seems to be the leading candidate in that regard.

However, with news that RC Lens striker Elye Wahi is now up for sale, a player West Ham were nearing an agreement for last summer, could interest resurface?

According to French outlet L’Equipe, Wahi is now unhappy at Lens just 12 months after joining, despite enjoying a strong debut campaign.

Wahi scored 12 times and provided four assists in his 37 games, having moved from Montpellier for £30m.

However, according to the report mentioned, the ‘very fast’ striker now wants to leave the club because of their lack of ambition in the transfer market.

Incidentally, all parties have agreed to Wahi leaving, which could happen in the coming weeks.

The same information confirms that there’s interest from both England and Germany for the striker who scored against Arsenal in the Champions League last season.

And at 21-years-old, Wahi’s availability could be an incredibly exciting opportunity for Steidten and West Ham, who have seemingly appreciated his talent before.
