‘Much cheaper’: Man Utd could go for £35m winger who’d be easier to sign than Michael Olise – journalist

Manchester United are in the market for a new winger this summer.

With Antony and Marcus Rashford massively out of form, the Red Devils need a new wide attacker heading into the summer transfer window.

Michael Olise is said to be a player the Red Devils are very keen on, but with the Frenchman being valued at around £60m, this would be an expensive deal.

Speaking on The Done Deal Show, Ben Jacobs has been discussing Olise’s future, and he’s said that many clubs who are in for Olise could end up going for LeedsCrysencio Summerville as an alternative if they can’t get a deal done.

Manchester United could go for Crysencio Summerville

Jacobs spoke about Summerville and how United could target the Dutchman as an Olise alternative.

“Summerville is easier (than Olise), there’s no formal release clause, but there’s an acceptance from Leeds’ part that they will listen to offers,” Jacobs said.

“Leeds need to generate money because they’re not back in the Premier League. I expect Summerville to be available between £30-35m. Chelsea are one of the teams looking. I think Manchester United could come into the conversation even though they’ve not progressed anything definitively at this stage, but he’s much cheaper.

“If it’s a balancing act financially or they feel they’re not going to get Olise they will enter into that conversation. I would keep an eye on Newcastle as well who are vaguely in for Olise but they can’t affored the £60-65m for him. Summerville is a budget option and clubs will be looking to take advantage of the fact Leeds weren’t promoted.

“Liverpool as well we should add as I’ve reported many times, another one in the mix for Summerville.”

Leeds won’t want to sell to Manchester United

As Jacobs says, a number of teams are in for Summerville this summer, and if that is true, it’s hard to see him ending up at United.

Indeed, Manchester United are the last team that Leeds will want to sell to.

Simply put, these two clubs really dislike each other, and Leeds will explore almost every available option before conceding and accepting a bid from United.

United may have a look at Summerville, but it’s hard to see the winger ending up at Old Trafford this summer.
